Great Sex-Positive Role Models for Men - Randy Fox

We’ve always heard the idiom, “monkey see, monkey do.” This means a person imitates what someone else is doing, whether virtuous or not, consciously or not. That can be a good thing if we’re following someone who’s worth following, especially for guys. Here are some great sex-positive role models for men.

Why Men Need Sex-Positive Role Models

In an age where there are, for lack of a better term, tons of douchebags in the society, you would think that chivalry is dead. It’s like young men don’t have someone worth emulating anymore. And the fact that most men portray themselves as misogynistic, rude, and excessively dominating in media hurts us even more.

Don’t believe me? Let me count the ways toxic masculinity has been bad for men who are trying to find someone to look up to. Brad Pitt has had as many girlfriends as his many hairstyles. Tiger Woods has had one too many scandals and affairs. At age of 73, Mick Jagger shows no signs of slowing down as he fathers his eighth child. Need I say more?

What men need nowadays are sex-positive role models who embrace their sexuality and is not affected by the stigma society pushes us into. The common misconception is that masculinity means being stiff, apathetic, and domineering. Men need to learn that they shouldn’t be contained in such a limiting definition.

Role Models to Look Up To

Well, we hope we’ve made the case clear! So who can we follow after? We picked five of them. Now the thing is, none of them are perfect, but they have actions that are pretty admirable.

Manny Delgado

Rico Rodriguez - Randy FoxOur first sex-positive role model, though fictional, is every bit a good man worth imitating. Manny (Rico Rodriguez) of the series “Modern Family” is the ultimate gentleman. During his younger years, he isn’t afraid to be different - he’s a nerdy, cheesy kid who wears his heart on his sleeve with confidence. In one of the more recent episodes where he’s already a teen, he displayed that he struggled to fit it - then eventually understood that he’s good as he is. Even when tempted to sleep with his teacher, in the end he does the right thing by sleeping in the couch. Don’t you just want to pinch his cheeks?

Ansel Elgort

Ansel Elgort - Randy FoxIn a world where polygamy is becoming the norm, Ansel Elgort shows that monogamy is sexy. Known for his roles in “The Fault in Our Stars” and “Divergent,” Elgort tells E! News that he is indeed a one-woman man. He explains that he’d rather be sitting in a couch and have great sex with that one girl rather than date a lot of girls, which he can given his cute facade, and have terrible sex. He’s very candid when it comes to his sexuality, even revealing his mistakes when he got devirginised when he was 14-years old, but he’s very serious when it comes to romantic love. In a nutshell, he’s the ultimate dreamboat.

Chris Evans

Chris Evans - Randy FoxJust when you thought he couldn’t get any more perfect, Chris Evans shows he’s the ideal man you would want your folks to get to know without even trying. He’s not just Captain America of the hit movie franchise, “Avengers” - he’s a huge star that’s unaffected by his popularity and masculine branding. As a matter of fact, he says he feels like a woman sometimes as he is raised by strong women, showing he’s unafraid of being misinterpreted. That may be why he’s so respective of women. And the fact that he’s seductive yet gentleman-like is all the more attractive.

General Iroh

If you thought we’re done with fictional characters, think again! General Iroh of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” is the perfect role model of a respectable middle-aged man. He is a calm and collected character that, while he flirts every now and then with women, does it with respect and kindness. He shows that you can display attraction without being rude, and that’s a wonderful trait to have. While he had mistakes in the past, he shows that he has shunned his old ways, making him the exemplary model of changing for the better. And boy, was he the ultimate model of moral uprightness in the show.

Terry Crews

Terry Crews - Randy FoxPeople think that just because your a macho man, you can’t be vulnerable. Terry Crews has shared, with no holds barred, that he was personally harassed by a Hollywood executive. That made him an unconventional voice in the #metoo movement which mostly comprised of women. He was unafraid, too, to stand firm to his principles that an apology has to be paired with action. He shared that the assailant apologised, but only made it public after that person resigned, which is the action he wanted. As far as his treatment of women, Crews shares that he is essentially a feminist, and that the “man code,” which parades women as trophies, should be smashed.

In a world where sex-positive male role models are hard to find, we are graced by the presence of some of them. Who else do you think should make it to our list?
